Caloocan Intensifies Anti-Drug Efforts and Public Safety Measures
Caloocan City has recently witnessed significant developments in its ongoing efforts to improve public safety and community welfare. The local government, led by Mayor Along Malapitan, has been proactive in implementing measures to address various issues affecting the city.
In a concerted effort to combat drug-related activities, the Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) conducted a major anti-drug operation that led to the arrest of several individuals involved in illegal drug trade. The operation resulted in the capture of suspects Nelson Ramilla, Dandy Nacor, and Zelester De Vera, who were apprehended on drug-related charges. This crackdown is part of a broader initiative by the city’s law enforcement to eliminate illegal drug activities and enhance the safety and security of its residents.
Mayor Along Malapitan has also introduced several public safety measures. Recently, the local government turned over 120 body cameras and 100 LED SOS devices to the Caloocan Public Safety and Traffic Management Department (PSTMD). These tools are intended to support night operations and ensure the safety of both the officers and the public. This move underscores the city’s commitment to leveraging technology to bolster public safety.
In addition to these measures, the mayor extended aid to families affected by a recent fire in Barangay 57. This relief effort, spearheaded by the City Social Welfare Development Department (CSWDD), provided much-needed assistance to those who lost their homes and possessions. Furthermore, the city broke ground for three new multi-purpose buildings, aimed at enhancing community services and providing residents with better facilities.
Caloocan has also launched an anti-rabies vaccination drive targeting pets in the city. The initiative, led by the Caloocan City Veterinary Department (CVD), aims to vaccinate dogs and cats to prevent the spread of rabies and ensure the health of pets and their owners.
The city has been recognized for its exemplary performance in managing informal settler families. Caloocan achieved a 100% assessment rating in the Informal Settler Family (ISF) Cluster Management under the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program. This accolade highlights the city’s effective strategies in addressing informal settlements and maintaining environmental cleanliness.
These efforts reflect Caloocan’s comprehensive approach to improving the quality of life for its residents through stringent law enforcement, public safety enhancements, community support initiatives, and animal welfare programs. The leadership of Mayor Along Malapitan continues to make strides in fostering a safer and more resilient city.
